The Healthy Lifestyle Retreat Center, Farm of Life, is opening 2 new guest rooms - Casa Mono and Casa Coco. In this video, we interview our head employee Henry, who took the lead on the construction of these 2 cabins. Gorgeous cabins, made of cedar and teak with glass walls facing the epic views. We hired from the village and harvested wood from our neighbors farm - local and sustainable! In this video, construction is 90% complete. Casa Mono and Coco will open for guest reservations for Dec 1, 2013. Pura Vida!

Tropical Storm Tomas Soaks Us and Wrecks the Roads

by Administrator November 16, 2010 | 12:36PM

5 straight days of incessant rain from Tropical Storm Tomas.  The South Pacific region of Costa Rica received 3x's the monthly average (November's average) of rain in the first 5 days of the month.  We estimated about 60-100 inches of rain in 5 days.

Costa Rica is in a National Emergency. The land is completely saturated.  Entire hillsides slide away because the earth could hold no more water.  The coast is flooding and coastal roads are underwater.

We made this video of the farm, nearby roads and water drainage through the storm.  Drainage on the farm was exceptional and the farm itself fared marvelously.  All structures remain dry, roofs did not leak, hills did not slide, electric and Internet remained in-tack, while nearby roads are wrecked.
